Lone Star Grading & Materials is looking for an Earthwork Superintendent to join our team! We are looking for candidates with strong experience in commercial and federal earthwork projects.
JOB SUMMARY:
Superintendent will lead and manage the on-site construction to ensure work is completed safely, on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Duties will be performed outdoors where there will be routine exposure to significant levels of heat, cold, moisture, wind, and dust.
• Leading and managing the on-site construction team.
• Coordinating and overseeing all work on site.
• Attending production meetings.
• Reviewing and becoming familiar with the schedule and budget and ensuring adherence to these.
• Ensuring quality standards are met.
• Placing orders for materials.
• Following the project timeline to ensure deadlines are met.
• Monitoring and ensuring on-site safety compliance, cleanliness, and orderliness.
• Liaising with inspection authorities regarding inspections.
• Providing technical assistance, interpreting drawings, recommending construction methods, equipment, as required.
• Ensuring all on-site personnel comply with project procedures, safety program requirements, work rules, and document all violations.
• Participating in meetings to review/assist in daily, weekly, and monthly planning.
• Verifying that all material, manpower, and resources needed to support the 3 Week Look Ahead Schedule are available and on site.
• Reviewing and submitting field personnel timesheets, installed quantity reports, and daily progress reports.
• Communicating and coordinating assigned field personnel daily and weekly work plans with other discipline Superintendents and Operations Manager.
• Properly following OSHA safety procedures. Bringing problems to the immediate attention of the Operations Manager or Safety.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Dependable, consistent, hardworking, self-starter.
• 5 years’ experience as a construction civil superintendent with earthwork emphasis.
• Requires high school diploma.
• Ability to interpret and build according to drawings, specifications, and other documents.
• Ability to organize and handle multiple project assignments without supervision.
• Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Outstanding organizational skills.
• Must be a team player.
• Experience working with HCSS HeavyJob is a plus.
• Ability to lift 40 pounds and to operate heavy equipment.
• Must meet all essential physical requirements necessary to do this job.
• Must possess OSHA 30
• U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Construction Quality Management for Contractors (QCM) certificate is a plus.
• Bilingual. English and Spanish speaking is a plus.
