The Senior Design Build Manager is a leadership role responsible for overseeing the management of project teams, driving successful project delivery, and supporting both project management and preconstruction efforts for an industrial design-build general contractor.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, manage, and mentor multidisciplinary project teams, including project managers, estimators, preconstruction staff, and design-build managers, to ensure productivity and a positive, client-focused culture.
- Oversee all phases of industrial construction projects, from initial planning and preconstruction through execution and closeout, ensuring alignment with client goals and company standards.
- Collaborate with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors to develop comprehensive project plans, schedules, and budgets.
- Direct the preconstruction process, including estimating, value engineering, risk assessment, and bid management, to ensure accurate proposals and successful project acquisition.
- Monitor project progress, budgets, and timelines; proactively identify and resolve issues to maintain project momentum and client satisfaction.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, building codes, and legal requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
- Develop and implement standardized processes and procedures to improve operational efficiency and consistency across teams.
- Provide regular progress and financial reports to executive leadership, highlighting key milestones, risks, and opportunities.
- Support the hiring, training, and professional development of project and preconstruction staff, fostering a high-performance team environment.
- Act as a primary decision-maker on project-related matters, including contract negotiations, resource allocation, and conflict resolution.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field; advanced degree or professional certifications preferred.
- 10 years of experience in construction project management OR preconstruction, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within design-build and industrial construction.
- Proven track record of managing complex, large-scale projects from preconstruction through completion.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and guide diverse teams.
- Expertise in project scheduling, budgeting, risk management, and contract negotiation.
