Position Overview

The Electronics Technician Maintenance II (Inspector) performs advanced inspections, diagnostics, testing, and evaluation of electronic equipment and systems to ensure compliance with technical standards, operational requirements, and quality assurance protocols. This position verifies the accuracy and completeness of maintenance actions, identifies deficiencies, and supports overall mission readiness of Army, aviation, or DOD support systems.

Key Responsibilities

Inspection & Quality Assurance

  • Conduct detailed inspections on electronic equipment, subsystems, and components such as communication devices, control systems, navigation systems, sensors, power distribution units, circuit boards, and electronic assemblies.
  • Perform acceptance, in-process, and final inspections of maintenance, repairs, and modifications.
  • Utilize schematics, wiring diagrams, TMs, and testing procedures to ensure compliance with OEM and military standards.
  • Identify defects, out-of-tolerance conditions, improper repairs, and safety hazards.
  • Verify system configuration, calibration, and operational performance after maintenance.

Diagnostics & Technical Evaluation

  • Use electronic test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, signal generators, power meters, and automated test sets to evaluate system performance.
  • Diagnose complex electronic faults and recommend corrective actions.
  • Review completed work orders to ensure proper troubleshooting procedures and parts usage.
  • Support root cause analysis and maintenance trend identification.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Record inspection results, discrepancies, and corrective actions in required maintenance systems (e.g., GCSS-Army, MAXIMO, or contract-specific software).
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with DOD, Army, and OEM technical standards.
  • Maintain accurate technical records, inspection forms, calibration logs, and quality assurance documentation.
  • Assist in audits and evaluations as part of Quality Control or Quality Assurance programs.

Safety, Security & Environmental Standards

  • Follow proper handling procedures for electronic components, static-sensitive devices, and hazardous materials.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental regulations, and electrical safety protocols.
  • Maintain proper tool control and accountability for all test equipment.

Technical Support & Training

  • Provide technical guidance and assistance to junior technicians and maintenance personnel.
  • Assist in developing inspection checklists, troubleshooting procedures, and technical SOPs.
  • Train personnel in inspection techniques, use of diagnostic tools, and system-specific maintenance practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience as an electronics technician supporting military, DOD, aviation, communications, or industrial electronic systems.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting electronics using schematics, wiring diagrams, and diagnostic tools.
  • Strong understanding of electronic theory, digital/analog circuits, and system-level integration.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, OEM documentation, and engineering drawings.
  • Must meet physical requirements and be able to work in shop, bench, or field environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Military background in electronics (e.g., 94-series Army MOS, Navy ET/AT, USAF avionics).
  • Experience with maintenance tracking systems such as GCSS-Army, MAXIMO, NALCOMIS, or similar platforms.
  • Certifications in electronics or equipment-specific training (CompTIA, IPC, or OEM courses).
  • Experience in quality assurance or inspection roles.

Physical & Environmental Requirements

  • Ability to lift 25–40 lbs and perform bench work for extended periods.
  • Work in shop, lab, warehouse, or field environments as required.
  • Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and adherence to safety protocols required.
