We are seeking a hands-on Engineer / Project Technician who enjoys both project implementation and advanced technical troubleshooting. This position supports a wide range of technologies including firewalls, VPNs, servers, Microsoft 365, VoIP systems, wireless networks, backups, and endpoint deployments. 

POSITION SUMMARY 

The Engineer / Project Technician is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting client technology environments. This role works directly with customers, vendors, and internal teams to deploy infrastructure projects, support managed services, and resolve complex technical issues. 

The ideal candidate is equally comfortable terminating network cabling, configuring a firewall, deploying a new server, troubleshooting VPN access, onboarding users into Microsoft 365, and managing customer expectations throughout a project. 

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES 

Infrastructure & Networking 

• Configure, deploy, and support firewalls, switches, wireless access points, VPNs, and network equipment. 
• Install and maintain FortiGate, Sophos, Ubiquiti, Peplink/Pepwave, and other networking solutions. 
• Configure VLANs, firewall rules, content filtering, remote access, and site-to-site connectivity. 
• Perform structured cabling, rack organization, patch panel installation, cable termination, and network closet improvements. 
• Install and configure Wi-Fi systems, guest networks, and wireless bridges. 

Systems Administration 

• Deploy and support Windows workstations, Windows Server environments, virtual machines, and cloud-hosted services. 
• Perform server upgrades, migrations, performance tuning, and hardware installations. 
• Manage Active Directory, file shares, remote desktop access, and Microsoft 365 services. 
• Configure and troubleshoot backup and disaster recovery systems. 

Security & Compliance 

• Implement firewall security policies and VPN solutions. 
• Support endpoint security platforms, backup verification, and incident response activities. 
• Manage email security solutions including Proofpoint and related platforms. 
• Participate in remediation of cybersecurity incidents and security alerts. 

Projects & Client Support 

• Lead or assist with customer onboarding, device migrations, and infrastructure upgrades. 
• Deploy desktops, laptops, tablets, printers, scanners, and VoIP phones. 
• Create technical documentation and maintain accurate project records. 
• Coordinate with customers, vendors, ISPs, and software providers. 
• Provide onsite and remote support for escalated technical issues. 

VoIP & Communications 

• Configure and troubleshoot VoIP phone systems, extensions, call routing, voicemail, and number porting. 
• Deploy Yealink and cloud-based communications solutions. 
• Assist with conferencing, meeting room technology, and unified communications systems. 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 

• Background in Information Technology, Computer Networking, Engineering Technology, or a related field 
• 3 years of experience in IT infrastructure, networking, systems administration, or technical project implementation. 
• Strong understanding of: 
• TCP/IP networking 
• Firewalls and VPN technologies 
• Windows desktop and server environments 
• Microsoft 365 administration 
• Wired and wireless networking 
• Backup and disaster recovery solutions 
• Experience supporting both onsite and remote users. 
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. 
• Strong written and verbal communication skills. 
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.

• NAS storage and backup systems 
• RDP, Splashtop, TeamViewer, and remote support tools 
• Structured cabling and rack installations 
• UPS, PDU, and power redundancy design and deployment
