Overview Serve as a support to Vessel Superintendent and facilitate efficient loading/unloading of vessels Qualifications Position Requirements: High School Diploma or Equivalent 2 years of industry experience preferred Supervisory experience preferred Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Subject to physical screening along with other tests as applicable Expose to all outdoor environmental factors such as extreme heat, rain, wind, cold and high humidity during day and night shifts Employee is frequently required to stand, walk, climb, bend forward, squat, twist, pinch and reach overhead Employee is required to climb 50ft vertical ladder Employee is frequently required to work at heights and in confined spaces Responsibilities Position Duties: Responsible for safety to all; ensure safety standards are followed Supervise Gang Foreman and all Longshore Workers while loading/unloading vessels Review stowage plan and identify labor, equipment and gear needed; communicate needs with superintendent Ensure work is performed as per stowage plan in a safe and efficient manner Maintain contact with Superintendents for any changes to stowage plan and adjust accordingly Oversee all gear and rigging to ensure proper equipment and techniques are utilized as per Gulf Stream Marine standards Assist in machine allocation and prevention of equipment abuse; ensuring operator is certified for particular equipment Attend safety meetings and ensure employee attendance May be responsible for terminal operations (particularly in Brownsville Terminal) May assist at other terminals in a similar job function Perform other related duties as assigned Must possess a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card
