Essential Functions & Responsibilities
Advanced Clinical Practice
- Perform comprehensive evaluations and develop sophisticated treatment plans for patients with complex musculoskeletal, neurological, and systemic conditions
- Manage a specialized caseload focusing on high-acuity patients, post-surgical cases, and those requiring advanced clinical intervention
- Implement and progress evidence-based treatment programs utilizing advanced manual therapy techniques, therapeutic exercise, and specialized modalities
- Utilize outcome measurement tools to track patient progress and demonstrate clinical effectiveness
- Maintain clinical expertise in specific practice areas through continued education and skill development
- Serve as a clinical resource and mentor to staff therapists, assisting with complex case discussions and clinical problem-solving
- Provide guidance and support to newer clinicians, sharing expertise in clinical reasoning and treatment planning
- Participate in clinical education through case presentations, in-service training, and peer review sessions
- Collaborate with referring physicians and healthcare providers to optimize patient care coordination
- Model best practices in documentation, patient communication, and professional conduct
- Maintain compliance with all state regulations, practice acts, and organizational policies
- Stay current with advancements in physical therapy practice through ongoing continuing education
- Contribute to clinical quality initiatives and process improvement projects
- Participate in program development and implementation of specialized clinical services
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with regulatory and organizational standards
Qualifications & Requirements
- Doctorate or Master's Degree in Physical Therapy from a CAPTE-accredited program
- Current state licensure in good standing as a Physical Therapist
- Minimum of 10 years of clinical experience in outpatient physical therapy
- Demonstrated expertise in managing complex patient cases
- Experience mentoring or providing clinical guidance to other therapists
- Strong knowledge of evidence-based practice and current clinical guidelines
- Excellent clinical documentation and communication skills
- Current BLS/CPR certification
- Clinical Specialist Certification (OCS, SCS, NCS, GCS, etc.)
- Advanced training in manual therapy, dry needling, or other specialized techniques
- Experience with program development or clinical quality initiatives
- Background in outpatient orthopedics, sports medicine, or specialized practice area
- Proficiency with EMR systems and clinical outcome measures
- Ability to lift and transfer patients up to 50 pounds using proper body mechanics
- Capacity for frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and reaching throughout clinical day
- Sufficient visual and auditory acuity for patient assessment and treatment
- Manual dexterity for performing skilled interventions and documentation
- Endurance for managing a full patient schedule in a fast-paced environment
