JOB OBJECTIVES:
- The Food Service Operations Assistant supports the daily operations of the Food and Nutrition Department by assisting with meal service, compliance, inventory, and administrative tasks.
- The Operations Assistant helps provide training resources and support to all food service employees.
- This role helps ensure efficiency, safety, and food service compliance across all schools within the district.
- This position is 210 contract days working 8 hrs/day
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supporting the kitchen operations.
- Ensuring food and safety compliance is met.
- Support with school menus and production documentation.
- Assist and support with inventory and product ordering.
- Assist with training new and current staff on procedures and best practices.
- Other various administrative duties.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate’s degree or equivalent educational experience, with academic major or concentration in food and nutrition, food service management, dietetics,family and consumer sciences, nutrition education, culinary arts, business, or a related field; and/or at least 2 years of relevant school nutrition programs experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Familiarity with or willingness to learn school nutrition programs
- Previous experience in food service, preferably in a school setting
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
- At least 8 hours of food safety training resulting in being ServSafe Certified
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
- Upon offer, applicant must complete and clear a drug screen and expanded criminal history background check for school personnel as required by IN state law

REPORTS TO/ EVALUATED BY:
- Food Service Director or Assistant Director
- Evaluations and goal setting will be conducted yearly along with meetings to review progress.
