Barista

We are seeking an enthusiastic and customer-focused Barista to join our team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about coffee, dedicated to providing excellent service, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. As a Barista, you will play a key role in creating delicious coffee beverages, engaging with customers, and maintaining the overall cleanliness and organization of the coffee shop.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and serve a variety of coffee beverages, including espresso, lattes, cappuccinos, and specialty drinks, following established recipes and standards
• Operate espresso machines, coffee grinders, and other equipment with precision and efficiency
• Maintain consistent quality by understanding espresso extraction, adjusting grinders, and identifying taste defects in real-time
• Provide friendly and attentive customer service, welcoming guests, taking orders, and addressing inquiries or concerns
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, including the coffee bar, equipment, and seating areas
• Monitor and restock coffee supplies, including coffee beans, milk, syrups, and other ingredients
• Follow FIFO (First-In, First-Out) rotation of ingredients such as coffee beans, milk, and syrups to ensure freshness
• Adhere to food safety standards and be mindful of customer dietary restrictions and food allergies
• Upsell additional items such as pastries, snacks, and merchandise to enhance the customer experience
• Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations and timely service during peak hours
• Attend training sessions and stay informed about coffee trends, new products, and brewing techniques
• Handle cash transactions accurately and efficiently, including processing payments and providing change
• Hold yourself and others accountable for completing daily tasks and maintaining high standards.

Requirements:

• Previous experience as a barista or in a customer service role, preferably in a coffee shop or cafe setting
• Passion for coffee and a desire to learn about different coffee varieties, brewing methods, and flavor profiles
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with customers in a friendly and professional manner
• Ability to work well under pressure and multitask in a fast-paced environment
• Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and cleanliness
• Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Knowledge of espresso machine operation and basic coffee preparation techniques is preferred but not required
• Food handler's permit or willingness to obtain one upon hire.

In order to qualify for the position, the candidate must:

• Proficient in using POS systems (Square preferred) and kitchen display systems (KDS)
• Availability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays
• Current forms of Identification, bank account and reliable transportation
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Good communication skills and a team player attitude
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with order processing systems
