CLASS TITLE: PERSONAL COMPUTER SUPPORT TECHNICIAN
Basic Function
Install, maintain and troubleshoot computer systems; perform technical duties in the installation of District-approved computer software and hardware; provide technical assistance to end users with computer-related software and hardware problems; conduct or assist in in-service education and introductory training on software operations.
Representative Duties

Perform technical duties in maintaining and troubleshooting computer systems, programs and software; install hardware and software for District-wide administrative, clerical and instructional computers. E
Provide technical assistance to end users with computer-related software and hardware problems; assist users on the selection of software; provide technical assistance and mechanical assistance to users as requested; drive to various sites to assist users as needed. E
Conduct or assist in in-service education and introductory training on software operations. E
Recommend, modify and develop various hardware and software systems. E
Conduct diagnostic testing on malfunctioning computers and computer disks to determine hardware or software problems; re-install operating systems and other programs as needed. E
Administer the Internet services for the District; enter user names, assign E-Mail addresses and maintain files of employees entered into the file server. E
Operate assigned computer hardware and software systems, and various printers, hard drives, cables and connectors, and other tools as assigned. E
Communicate with various management personnel, District staff and outside organization to coordinate activities, exchange information and resolve issues and concerns. E
Maintain current knowledge of technological advances and industry trends.
Assist with upgrading and installing memory and hard drives.
Perform related duties as assigned.

Education And Experience
Any combination equivalent to: high school diploma or equivalent supplemented by college-level course work in computer science or related field and increasingly responsible experience in personal computer operations, installation or repair.
Licenses And Other Requirements
Valid California driver’s license.
