Job Details

• Location: Spokane, WA 99204 – Spokane healthcare job in a city known for parks, riverfront activities, and a welcoming community.
• Role: Locum tenens cardiology physician / travel physician – inpatient cardiologist
• Assignment Type: Locum tenens (travel contract), long-term ongoing assignment
• Start Date: As soon as credentialing is complete (estimated 30–60 days)
• Duration: Ongoing, long-term
• Shifts: 12-hour overnight shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM), 7 consecutive nights starting Thursdays and ending Wednesdays; two weeks per month
• Hours per Week: Approx. 36
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $7,450 – $7,980 (competitive locum tenens pay for cardiologists)
• Patient Encounters per Shift: 7–18
• Trauma Level: Level 2

Required Qualifications

• Board Certified in Internal Medicine with Cardiology fellowship (Board Certified Cardiologist)
• Active and unrestricted physician license (Washington state preferred; Washington cardiology jobs)
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year inpatient cardiology experience; prior locum tenens or travel physician experience a plus
• Experience with ICU-level cardiac patients and non-invasive cardiology
• Proficiency in echocardiography and nuclear cardiology required; TEE experience preferred
• Ability to commit to two weeks of overnight coverage per month on a long-term basis

Primary Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality inpatient cardiology care during overnight shifts as the on-site cardiology physician
• Manage ICU-level cardiac patients, coordinate with hospitalists and critical care teams
• Perform and interpret echocardiograms, nuclear cardiology studies, and other non-invasive cardiac testing
• Provide triage, admit/discharge decisions, and overnight consultative cardiology services
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (nursing, advanced practice providers, ICU staff) to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Document patient encounters and maintain accurate medical records in the EMR
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adhere to hospital policies and protocols
