Requirements:
- Active Wisconsin RN license and Nurse Practitioner certification (with prescriptive authority).
- Current DEA registration and BLS certification.
- Knowledge of advanced nursing theory, pharmacology, diagnostics, and correctional healthcare.
- Ability to work independently, manage diverse cases, and respond effectively in emergencies.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct physical exams, assess health status, and establish medical diagnoses.
- Prescribe and monitor medications; order and interpret diagnostic tests.
- Provide preventive, acute, and chronic illness management to persons in custody.
- Maintain accurate medical records in the electronic health system.
- Participate in quality improvement, staff training, and patient education programs.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support the DOC’s Reentry and evidence-based care initiatives.
