Your Responsibilities
- Evaluate insurance risks presented to determine eligibility, profitability and desirability, to determine acceptance or rejection and established pricing of risks.
- Obtain proper referral authority for risks not within stated letter of Underwriting Authority.
- Follow all department guidelines, procedures and practices.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with Direct Sales Staff and/or agents to provide best possible service on a timely basis.
- Demonstrate professional, tactful negotiation skills.
- Operates alphanumeric keyboard to enter data into system, and verifies by sight that keyed data is accurate, complete and conforms to established procedures.
- Makes positive contribution to customer satisfaction and constantly strives to improve service to the customer.
- Communicates in a positive manner to contribute to a cohesive, pleasant work environment.
- Protects the confidentiality of information learned by performing the duties of the position.
- Bachelor’s degree in business related field, or equivalent education and/or experience.
- Full working knowledge of commercial property/casualty coverage’s.
- Experience in underwriting and servicing the insurance needs of Program clients.
- Demonstrated ability to instill confidence and comfort with clients.
- Successful completion of CPCU or ARM, or willingness to do so, willingness to expand knowledge and effectiveness in insurance industry by successful completion of extended insurance education beyond continuing education requirements for licensing.
- Ability to compile, analyze, and interpret financial information and data to facilitate decision making.
- Ability to organize and delegate workload responsibilities.
- Organizational and time management skills to prioritize heavy workloads to meet time sensitive deadlines.
- Firm, fluent grasp of English language with excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills to interact with associates at all levels of responsibility and individuals at all levels of life experience.
- Ability to work with computer technology with little instruction.
- Proficient at spreadsheet and word processing programs.
- Ability to speak into and adequately hear voices from telephone equipment.
- Ability to make decisions in compliance with established standards of quality performance and service.
- Prepares written correspondence, analysis, reports, and memos as needed.
- Attends staff meetings, unit meetings, educational workshops, conventions, carrier functions, and social functions.
- Travels by automobile and aircraft, and may stay more than one day and night.
- Accumulates required continuing educational credits to maintain current insurance license (if required).
- Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
- Participates in evaluation of profit and loss on a program basis as required.
- Ability to complete continuing education requirements as needed
- Ability to attend company, department, and team meetings as required, including industry training sessions
- Ability to comply with all company policies and procedures, proactively protecting confidentiality of Client and company information
- Ability to efficiently organize work and manage time in order to meet deadlines
- Ability to travel by automobile and aircraft
- Ability to use office equipment such as a computer, keyboard, calculator, photocopier, and facsimile machine
- Ability to work on a computer for a prolonged amount of time
- Ability to work outside of normal business hours as needed
