Senior Accountant

Northwest Houston, TX | On-Site (Monday–Friday)

A privately held commercial real estate ownership and management firm is seeking an Senior Accountant to support the day-to-day accounting operations of a portfolio of commercial properties totaling approximately 1 million square feet. This role will work closely with the company’s Controller and play a key part in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting reporting functions, and assisting with property and entity-level accounting activities. The position offers a strong growth opportunity as the current Controller transitions toward retirement in the coming years.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day accounting functions related to commercial real estate operations
• Maintain property and entity-level accounting records using Yardi
• Prepare financial reports and assist with periodic financial statement preparation
• Oversee capital account tracking and reconciliation
• Perform bank account administration and monthly reconciliations
• Support budgeting, reporting, and operational financial analysis as needed
• Assist the Controller with accounting oversight and financial management functions across the portfolio
• Ensure accurate record keeping and adherence to internal accounting controls

Qualifications

• Experience in accounting within commercial real estate, property management, or a related field preferred
• Hands-on experience with Yardi or similar property accounting software strongly preferred
• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple responsibilities
• Ability to work on-site in Northwest Houston Monday through Friday with limited commute preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
