A growing community bank with a digital banking subsidiary is seeking a Relationship Manager to join its Birmingham banking team. This role will support both traditional branch-based business banking and online business banking opportunities.
About the Role
The Relationship Manager will be responsible for building and growing a book of business, developing new small business relationships, and supporting business clients coming through both local market channels and online banking platforms. This person should have strong experience in small business lending, relationship banking, and deposit growth.
Responsibilities
- Develop and grow a portfolio of small business banking relationships.
- Source new business through local market outreach, referrals, centers of influence, and inbound online banking opportunities.
- Work with small business owners to understand their lending, deposit, treasury, and banking needs.
- Originate and manage small business loans, lines of credit, and other business banking solutions.
- Partner with credit, underwriting, operations, and compliance teams to move deals through the process.
- Support business clients coming through the bank’s digital and online banking channels.
- Build long-term relationships with business owners, entrepreneurs, and local market partners.
- Identify cross-selling opportunities across lending, deposits, treasury services, and online banking products.
- Maintain strong knowledge of small business lending guidelines, credit quality, documentation, and regulatory requirements.
- Represent the bank professionally in the Birmingham market.
Qualifications
- 3 years of business banking, relationship management, or small business lending experience.
- Strong understanding of small business lending, credit, deposits, and commercial banking products.
- Experience building and managing a book of business.
- Ability to generate new relationships while also supporting inbound business opportunities.
- Knowledge of digital banking, online banking, or fintech-driven banking platforms preferred.
- Strong communication, sales, relationship-building, and customer service skills.
- Ability to work onsite in Birmingham, AL.
- Comfortable working with business owners, entrepreneurs, and small business borrowers.
Salary : $80,000 - $120,000
