On behalf of a well‑established General Contractor with a strong footprint in the Baltimore market, we are recruiting a Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO) to support a busy portfolio of renovation projects. This is a full‑time, permanent role with a company that values safety, quality, and long‑term careers.
The successful candidate will be the on‑site safety leader, with expert‑level experience in the quality and safety aspects of renovation construction. You will work closely with project management, superintendents, and subcontractors to ensure that work is executed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead all site safety and health activities on renovation projects, from pre‑construction through close‑out.
- Develop, implement, and enforce site‑specific safety plans, JSAs, and risk assessments.
- Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and toolbox talks, proactively identifying and correcting hazards.
- Partner with project teams to embed safety and quality into planning, sequencing, and field execution.
- Investigate incidents and near‑misses, lead root‑cause analysis, and drive corrective and preventive actions.
- Maintain accurate safety documentation, reporting, and regulatory records.
- Coach and influence field teams and subcontractors to build a strong, safety‑first culture on site.
What we’re looking for:
- Proven experience as an SSHO, Safety Manager, or similar role with a General Contractor.
- Deep, hands‑on expertise in safety and quality for renovation construction (occupied and/or complex existing facilities experience is highly desirable).
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations and industry safety standards.
- Relevant safety certifications are strongly preferred (e.g., OSHA 30, CHST, CSP, or similar).
- Ability to communicate clearly and confidently with field staff, subcontractors, and client representatives.
- Proactive, detail‑oriented mindset with the confidence to stop work when necessary and the diplomacy to influence without creating friction.
What’s on offer:
- Base salary in the range of $90,000–$120,000, depending on experience.
- Comprehensive benefits package.
- Stable workload with a respected GC focused on renovation projects in the Baltimore area.
- Supportive leadership team that takes safety seriously and invests in the right people and tools.
