JOB DESCRIPTION
This is a high-impact, executive-level role for a proven plumbing operations leader who is ready to take full ownership of our rapidly expanding plumbing department. We are seeking a Director/Manager of Plumbing Operations to lead our entire plumbing division and play a crucial role in overall field strategy.
The ideal candidate will bring deep hands-on plumbing experience combined with strong leadership ability, leveraging expertise in operational scalability, team development, and P&L management to drive significant growth and profitability. We'd rather hire someone overqualified and battle-tested than someone still learning the ropes. If you've built and run plumbing departments before, we want to talk to you.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Take full ownership of the plumbing department, including P&L responsibility, operational workflow, and growth strategy
- Oversee scheduling, dispatching, and coordination of residential and commercial plumbing service, repair, and replacement jobs; including repipes, water heaters (tank and tankless), slab leaks, drain and sewer work, water treatment, gas lines, and fixture installs
- Recruit, hire, train, and mentor a world-class plumbing team - from apprentices to senior journeymen
- Develop and refine service and installation processes, quality standards, and safety protocols to ensure consistent, top-tier workmanship
- Collaborate with sales, HVAC, and office teams to ensure seamless handoffs and exceptional customer experiences
- Monitor job performance metrics, completion rates, callbacks, average ticket, and customer satisfaction scores - drive continuous improvement
- Implement and manage apprenticeship and training programs to develop technical talent from within
- Ensure compliance with all plumbing codes (UPC/IPC as applicable), local Phoenix and Maricopa County regulations, permitting requirements, and safety standards
- Work alongside management to set departmental goals, budgets, and long-term strategic plans
- Step onto job sites as needed to troubleshoot, coach, and maintain quality control
- Stay current on modern plumbing technology, water treatment systems, and best practices
REQUIREMENTS
- Seven (7) years of experience in residential and/or commercial plumbing, with at least three (3) years in a supervisory, management, or leadership role
- Proven track record of building, managing, and scaling plumbing teams
- Strong knowledge of water supply, DWV systems, gas piping, water heaters (tank and tankless), repipes, slab leak repair, drain cleaning, and water treatment
- Experience with P&L management, budgeting, and operational reporting
- Arizona Journeyman or Master Plumber license (Master strongly preferred)
- Valid driver's license with clean driving record
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Professional attitude, strong work ethic, and attention to detail
- Familiarity with CRM/dispatch (ServiceTitan) software and modern scheduling tools (preferred)
