Safety & Training Supervisor

Job Summary

The Safety and Training Coordinator is responsible for all site safety and training initiatives. This position conducts safety meetings, audits, and inspections to ensure compliance, evaluate performance, identify corrective action, and implement follow up assessments, and compliance training programs. Effective communication skills are required to safely move railcars in, out, and around the facility. Experience in railyard operations and/or chemical plant loading is preferred, but not required. 

Schedule & Pay  

• Full time, hourly, Non-exempt  
• Monday-Friday 8-hour shift 

Job Requirements & Qualifications 

• Required one to two years' experience in health and safety, preferably in a plant environment  
• Must possess and maintain an active Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card and valid Driver’s License  
• Demonstrated stable work history with positive references from previous employers, indicating reliability and competence. 
• Successfully pass drug screening test as well as physical and background check.

Job Duties & Responsibilities 

• Lead safety meetings, audits, and inspections to ensure compliance with regulations and develop training plans based on assessment findings. 
• Review current safety training programs and stay updated on all regulatory training requirements for employees. 
• Document improvements and additions to the facility's safety management program, including emergency preparedness, health and environmental manuals, and risk management plans. 
• Procure safety gear and supplies required for the workplace to ensure that all personnel have adequate protection. 
• Demonstrate familiarity with machinery and products used at the job site to identify potential safety hazards and implement appropriate safety measures. 
• Possess strong leadership skills to effectively communicate safety protocols, enforce compliance, and promote a culture of safety among employees. 
• Follow all safety rules, maintain a clean work area, and comply with environmental health and safety policies to mitigate risks and hazards. 
• Adhere to OSHA safety standards and maintain a safety-conscious mindset to ensure a safe working environment. 
• Support rail fleet activities and address the needs of the loading team, business partners, and customers to ensure safe and efficient operations. 
• Wear all required PPE, including flame-resistant clothing (FRC), respirators, and fresh air equipment as necessary to protect against workplace hazards. 
• Perform any other job duties as required, especially if assuming the role of site manager. 

Physical Requirements 

• Fluent in English, including speaking, writing, reading, and listening comprehension, to effectively communicate and understand job-related instructions and information. 
• Be comfortable working outside in environmental conditions which at times include extreme heat or extreme cold. 
• Wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) without restriction and pass any medical examination associated with the use of PPE
