Schedule & Pay
- Full time, hourly, Non-exempt
- Monday-Friday 8-hour shift
- Required one to two years' experience in health and safety, preferably in a plant environment
- Must possess and maintain an active Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card and valid Driver’s License
- Demonstrated stable work history with positive references from previous employers, indicating reliability and competence.
- Successfully pass drug screening test as well as physical and background check.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead safety meetings, audits, and inspections to ensure compliance with regulations and develop training plans based on assessment findings.
- Review current safety training programs and stay updated on all regulatory training requirements for employees.
- Document improvements and additions to the facility's safety management program, including emergency preparedness, health and environmental manuals, and risk management plans.
- Procure safety gear and supplies required for the workplace to ensure that all personnel have adequate protection.
- Demonstrate familiarity with machinery and products used at the job site to identify potential safety hazards and implement appropriate safety measures.
- Possess strong leadership skills to effectively communicate safety protocols, enforce compliance, and promote a culture of safety among employees.
- Follow all safety rules, maintain a clean work area, and comply with environmental health and safety policies to mitigate risks and hazards.
- Adhere to OSHA safety standards and maintain a safety-conscious mindset to ensure a safe working environment.
- Support rail fleet activities and address the needs of the loading team, business partners, and customers to ensure safe and efficient operations.
- Wear all required PPE, including flame-resistant clothing (FRC), respirators, and fresh air equipment as necessary to protect against workplace hazards.
- Perform any other job duties as required, especially if assuming the role of site manager.
- Fluent in English, including speaking, writing, reading, and listening comprehension, to effectively communicate and understand job-related instructions and information.
- Be comfortable working outside in environmental conditions which at times include extreme heat or extreme cold.
- Wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) without restriction and pass any medical examination associated with the use of PPE
