What are the responsibilities and job description for the Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) Analyst position at Load One, LLC?
About Load One
Load One is a PE-backed expedited freight brokerage headquartered in Taylor, MI, operating enterprise fleet, spot freight, air freight, and owner-operator programs across the country. We move fast, operate lean, and hold ourselves to the financial discipline that comes with PE ownership. Our finance team works directly with the CFO and executive leadership on everything from monthly close to Board reporting to M&A support. This is a high-visibility role with real impact from day one.
The Role
We are looking for a sharp, detail-oriented FP&A Analyst to join our finance team on-site in Taylor. You will own monthly variance analysis, support quarterly Board of Directors reporting, drive annual budgeting, and build the financial models that help our leadership team make faster, better decisions. You will also play a hands-on role in our AI initiative. We run Claude.AI, Domo, and Microsoft Great Plains, and we expect this person to actively use and improve our AI-assisted reporting workflows.
This is a 100% in-office role. There is no remote or hybrid option.
What You Will Do
Prepare and maintain monthly financial reports as part of the close process.
Conduct variance analysis on actual results versus budget and forecast.
Track and maintain corporate EBITDA against budget and forecast.
Support preparation of quarterly Board of Director reporting packages.
Assist in annual budgeting and multi-year forecasting.
Analyze COGS spend and margins against prior year, budget, and expectations.
Build financial, cost, and statistical models in partnership with operations.
Use Claude.AI, Domo, Great Plains, and Excel for data analysis and reporting.
Prepare ad hoc analyses for executives related to expenses, statistics, and cost savings.
Support M&A activity including due diligence and acquisition integration.
What We Are Looking For
Required
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business with a finance concentration.
3 or more years of direct experience in accounting and financial analysis.
Hands-on experience with at least three of the following: variance analysis, budgeting, forecasting, EBITDA tracking, COGS analysis, financial modeling, or Board/executive reporting.
Intermediate to advanced Excel proficiency including pivot tables, complex formulas, and financial models.
Familiarity with AI tools in a professional setting such as ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Claude.AI, or similar.
Ability to work 100% on-site in Taylor, MI. This requirement is absolute.
Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Preferred
MBA, CPA, CMA, or CFP.
Experience in transportation, logistics, freight, or fleet industries.
Proficiency in Domo, Microsoft Great Plains, Power BI, or similar platforms.
Experience supporting M&A due diligence or working in a PE-backed environment.
Advanced AI experience including prompt engineering, AI-assisted reporting, or AI workflow design.
Board of Directors reporting experience.
Why Load One
High-impact role in a growing, PE-backed company with an active M&A pipeline.
Competitive compensation, 401(k) with matching, dental, medical, and employee assistance program.
Be at the center of a real AI transformation in finance. Not a pilot program. Production tools already running.
To Apply
Apply directly through LinkedIn. You will be asked to confirm your ability to commute to Taylor, MI and your US work authorization as part of the application. Candidates who cannot meet the on-site requirement or require visa sponsorship will not be considered.
