Position Summary Our Reno team at Light & Wonder designs and develops content for our Central Determination, Class II, Historical Horse Racing, charitable gaming, and Class III markets. It is an exciting environment where game designers, mathematicians, engineers, artists, sound designers, and testers work together to produce some of the best content for the market. We are looking for a creative and passionate Game Designer. This position requires a high degree of initiative and drive. Game designers are responsible for reviewing/refining games, conceptualizing/communicating game concepts, and working across teams and disciplines including engineering, art, sound design, project management, and product manager to deliver a wide variety of gaming products. Essential Job Functions: Conceptualizing designs for slot games. Create designs based on existing designs and/or games based on stakeholder requirements. Pitching designs to various levels of stakeholders. Documentation and communication of game design. Review and iteration of game design – including all aspects of the game – art, math, sound, execution, & choreography. Participation in theme and mechanic brainstorming. Market and data analysis of current trends. Qualifications Education A degree in Art, Animation, Game Development, Interactive Media, or a related field. Equivalent experience in lieu of a degree will be considered. Training and/or Experience: Minimum 1-3 years of design and/or creative experience. Game design experience preferred. Background in casino style game development is highly preferred. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Experience designing games or similar products that come into being through various channels – including original concepts, competitively relevant products, and business or market needs. Knowledge and experience with various game development pipelines & methodologies. Experience working with multiple disciplines, including artists, mathematicians, software developers, etc. in creating games or products. Strong written and communication skills. Ability to communicate and collaborate with others. Ability to work in a deadline-oriented environment. Strong critical thinking and analytical skills.
