What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction Superintendent position at LMK Recruiting Solutions?
About the Company
We are a leading New York City-based general contractor specializing in ground-up residential construction, delivering high-rise and mid-rise developments across the five boroughs. From foundations to final punch list, we run our jobsites with discipline, transparency, and a genuine commitment to getting our field teams what they need to succeed.
About the Role
As our project pipeline continues to grow, we're looking for a Construction Superintendent to lead the day-to-day execution of one of our active NYC developments. This is a role for a superintendent who wants real ownership of a jobsite — not someone managing from a trailer buried in paperwork, but someone who's out on the deck every day, running the schedule, coordinating trades, and solving problems before they become delays.
Responsibilities
- Own day-to-day field operations for a ground-up high-rise or mid-rise residential project, from site mobilization through substantial completion and closeout
- Develop, maintain, and drive the project schedule in coordination with the project management team, keeping trades sequenced and on pace
- Coordinate and supervise subcontractors on-site, holding trades accountable to schedule, quality, and safety standards
- Run and lead weekly OAC (owner-architect-contractor) meetings, subcontractor coordination meetings, and daily field huddles
- Identify and resolve field conflicts, RFIs, and constructability issues in real time, working closely with the project engineer and architect
- Enforce jobsite safety standards and support the safety team in maintaining a compliant, incident-free site
- Manage site logistics, material deliveries, hoisting/crane schedules, and DOB inspections specific to high-rise and mid-rise vertical construction
- Track and report daily progress, manpower, and schedule status to the project management team
- Mentor assistant superintendents and field engineers, building bench strength for future projects
- Partner with the safety and quality teams to ensure the project is delivered on time, on budget, and to spec
Qualifications
- 7 years of construction superintendent experience in NYC, with direct experience on ground-up high-rise and/or mid-rise residential projects
- Strong working knowledge of NYC DOB processes, inspections, and code requirements
- Proven ability to read and coordinate off construction drawings, specs, and structural/MEP plans
- Hands-on experience managing structural steel or concrete superstructure phases, curtain wall/façade installation, and interior fit-out sequencing
- A track record of running projects on schedule and keeping subcontractors accountable without unnecessary friction
- OSHA 30 certification (required); Site Safety Manager (SST) license a plus
- Strong leadership presence — this role requires someone who can command a jobsite and earn trust fast
- Proficiency with scheduling and project management software (Procore, Primavera P6, MS Project, or similar)
Required Skills
- Experience on Local Law 97-compliant or high-performance residential buildings
- Existing relationships with NYC-area subcontractors and trade unions
- Background progressing from assistant superintendent to superintendent within a similar GC environment
Preferred Skills
- None specified
Pay range and compensation package
Salary: $165,000–$195,000, commensurate with experience
- 401(k) with 3% Safe Harbor match
- 20 days PTO plus paid holidays
- Access to comprehensive health plans
- Real ownership of high-visibility NYC developments, backed by a project management team that actually supports the field
- A clear path to Senior Superintendent or General Superintendent as our project volume grows
