Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Tutor who holds a Special Education Certification to join our educational team. This role involves working with school aged students to enhance their understanding of subjects and improve their academic performance. The Tutor will be responsible for developing tailored lesson plans that meet the unique needs of each student.
Duties
- Provide one-on-one in-person tutoring sessions in various subjects, adapting teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles.
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans and educational materials that align with curriculum standards.
- Assess students’ progress and provide constructive feedback to help them achieve their academic goals.
- Utilize learning technology and resources to enhance the tutoring experience.
- Support students with special education needs by employing appropriate strategies and techniques.
- Maintain a positive and encouraging atmosphere that promotes student confidence and motivation.
- Collaborate with parents, teachers, and other educational professionals to ensure comprehensive support for each student’s learning journey.
Requirements
- Certified NY teaching license with Special Education License
- Cannot be currently employed by the Department of Education due to it being a conflict of interest
- Proven experience in tutoring or teaching, particularly in special education/early childhood education settings.
- Strong knowledge of curriculum development and classroom management techniques.
- Familiarity with special education practices is highly desirable.
- Ability to educate students effectively using various instructional strategies.
- Experience working with children and understanding their unique learning needs.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage students effectively.
