POSITION OVERVIEW: As a Intern at LJA Transportation , you will be responsible for supporting our team in research, strategic communications, and outreach efforts. This role directly supports the Communications and Strategy team, assisting with advocacy initiatives, policy research, and stakeholder engagement. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator with an interest in public policy, government relations, and strategic messaging.
A TYPICAL DAY MIGHT INCLUDE:
- Conduct research and compile information on projects across the state, industry trends, key stakeholders, legislative and campaign initiatives.
- Assist in drafting communications materials, including briefings, reports, and outreach correspondence.
- Support strategy development for engagement with clients, policymakers, industry leaders, and partner organizations.
- Monitor and summarize relevant news, hearings, and regulatory updates.
- Help coordinate meetings, events, and outreach efforts.
- Run errands as needed, including deliveries, supply pickups, and other operational tasks.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in: Communications Studies, Journalism, Advertising, Public Relations, Marketing, Public Policy, Government, or a related field. Note: We are open to other fields of study provided the candidate shows an interest and aptitude for communications and outreach.
- Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
- Interest in strategic communication, government affairs, engineering, transportation, water, oil and gas, and infrastructure project.
- Availability to work a minimum of 24 hours.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and adapt to fast-paced environments.
- Must have a valid driver’s license, vehicle insurance, and access to a personal vehicle for running errands as needed.
IDEALLY, YOU SHOULD ALSO HAVE:
- Availability to work some evening and weekends on occasion.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organization and time management skills.
- Professional, responsible, and reliable team player.
- Proficiency with PC computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PPT).
- Ability to take direction and grow existing skill sets.
