An Aggregate Millwright repairs and maintains heavy equipment used in aggregate production, such as crushers, conveyors, and screens. This role involves hands-on mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical work, often at job sites, with a focus on troubleshooting and minimizing equipment downtime. Key skills include strong mechanical aptitude, the ability to read schematics, and physical capability for heavy lifting and working in outdoor conditions.
Must be willing to travel often.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Diagnose and repair: Troubleshoot and fix mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems on aggregate production equipment like crushers, conveyors, and screens.
  • Perform maintenance: Conduct both major overhauls and minor repairs, such as changing fluids or fixing leaks.
  • Ensure optimal performance: Work to ensure the equipment runs efficiently and to minimize downtime for customers.
  • Travel to job sites: Many roles require traveling to customer locations throughout the U.S. to perform repairs.
  • Use tools and technology: Utilize a variety of tools and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints to complete work.
  • Collaborate: Work with production personnel to understand equipment operation and with other technicians to diagnose issues.
  • ReadingBlueprints:Interpretandunderstandblueprintsandschematicstodeterminethespecificationsandrequirementsforconstructionprojects.
  • InstallationandAssembly:Installandreinforceironandsteelstructures,includingbeams,girders,andcolumns,ensuringtheyaresecureandmeetdesignspecifications.
  • OperatingEquipment:Usevarioustoolsandmachinery,suchascranes,weldingmachines,andcuttingtorches,tocut,bend,andweldmetalcomponentsintodesiredshapesandpositions
  • MaintenanceandRepair:Inspectandmaintainexistingironandsteelstructures,performingrepairsasnecessarytoensuretheirlongevityandsafety

 

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Technical skills: Strong understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems; experience with heavy equipment is often required.
  • Problem-solving: Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills are essential.
  • Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is typically required, with a technical degree or certification being preferred.
  • Physical ability: Must be able to lift heavy objects and work in various outdoor conditions. Must also be comfortable with confined spaces and heights.
  • Soft skills: Good communication and interpersonal skills are important for interacting with customers and team members.
  • Certifications: OSHA compliance or a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required.
  • Welding:
    • Perform various welding processes (MIG, TIG, Stick) on a variety of materials.
    • Ensure welding projects meet industry standards and specifications.
    • Inspect and test welds for quality and safety.
    • Maintain welding equipment and tools.
  • Safety:
    • Adhere to all safety guidelines, protocols, and procedures.
    • Promote and maintain a safe work environment for yourself and your team.
  • Documentation:
    • Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.
    • Provide timely reports and updates to supervisors and clients.

 

Preferred Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Millwright and Welder.
  • Welding certification (e.g., AWS, ASME) preferred.
  • CDL A is preferred but open to CDL B with Air Brake Endorsement.
  • Proficient in reading blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of industrial machinery and equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to safety and quality.
  • Experience with Red Iron would be a great bonus.
  • NCCCO or NCCER Certification.
