Livingston Law Group, PLLC, a boutique personal injury firm with offices in Charlottesville and Fairfax, is seeking a trial attorney to join a fast-paced environment and driven team at our Charlottesville office. We are a five-attorney, four-paralegal personal injury firm with a large client base and extensive referral network. Requirements: Admission to Virginia Bar and 5 years of civil litigation experience
Candidates with experience in medical malpractice litigation preferred. Partnership track. Salary $125,000-$300,000 with bonus depending on experience and performance.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Litigation Associate will work closely with the firm’s partners and support staff on every phase of civil litigation, including complex medical malpractice and personal injury matters. Responsibilities include:
- Draft pleadings
- Conduct legal and medical research
- Manage written discovery
- Take and defend fact and expert witness depositions
- Participate in mediations and settlement negotiations
- Brief and argue motions
- Second-chair trials in Virginia courts
- Evaluate cases and develop case strategy
- Work with expert witnesses across many specialties
- Maintain regular communication with clients and referral partners
- Manage support staff to ensure timely and accurate case progress
- Contribute to case development from intake through resolution
- Negotiate and resolve liens
- Participate in firm meetings, litigation planning sessions, and trial preparation
Qualifications and Required Skills
- Admission to the Virginia Bar
- Minimum of 5 years of civil litigation experience
- Ability to commute to Charlottesville, VA office
- Strong writing, analysis, and oral advocacy skills
- Experience taking and defending depositions
- Experience with complex medical records, medical issues, and expert witnesses
- Courtroom experience, including motions practice and complex trials
- Ability to balance a fast-paced environment with an attention to detail
- Ability to work collaboratively within a small, high-performing team
- Commitment to client service, professionalism, and high-quality work product
- Interest and experience in medical malpractice litigation preferred
