What are the responsibilities and job description for the MLT or MT - Weekend Option Days with Bonus Hours (58535) position at Livingston Hospital?
POSITION SUMMARY:
Perform all levels of waived, moderate and high complexity testing.
Perform all duties outlined in the laboratorys manuals.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & AUTHORITIES:
- Perform lab test using predetermined standards in all areas of the lab.
- Collect specimen from patients and perform routine testing.
- Prints and distributes patient results and pertinent lab reports.
- Performs quality control and instrument maintenance with proper documentation of these activities.
- Adheres to strict quality in testing and in all patient care arenas.
- Notifies supervisor of supplies needed, equipment malfunctions, and of any non routine occurrences.
- Aids the general supervisor by compiling necessary quality improvement, infection control, tissue, and blood review data.
- Assists with maintaining patient records and filing with the laboratory.
- Responsible for reviewing test results, charges and credits on patient accounts; with attention to test diagnosis, medical necessity, and prevention of duplicate and unbundling of billing.
- Test API samples on a monthly basis to ensure proper specimen handling and testing techniques as required by Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
- May be assigned other duties commensurate with qualifications.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Cover the lab on an on call basis as scheduled.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, ABILITIES):
Graduate of Medical Laboratory Program with an Associates Degree in Applied Science required.
ASCP Registered preferred.
OTHER SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, REGISTRATIONS, ETC.)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
General good health is required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Employee must observe OSHA guidelines and good laboratory technique guidelines.
Qualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, ABILITIES):
Graduate of Medical Laboratory Program with an Associates Degree in Applied Science required.
ASCP Registered preferred.
MT or MLS May also apply.
