Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Substance Abuse Counselor to join our dynamic behavioral health team. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive addiction counseling and mental health support to individuals struggling with substance use disorders. Your expertise will guide clients through recovery, utilizing evidence-based practices such as psychotherapy, motivational interviewing, and behavioral therapy. You will play a key role in conducting diagnostic evaluations, developing personalized treatment plans, and delivering both individual and group counseling sessions. Your work will foster positive change, promote mental wellness, and empower clients to achieve lasting sobriety and improved quality of life. Duties
- Develop tailored treatment plans incorporating addiction medicine principles, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and applied behavior analysis techniques.
- Deliver individual and group therapy sessions focused on behavioral health, mental health counseling, PTSD care, and crisis management.
- Utilize motivational interviewing and crisis intervention skills to motivate clients toward recovery goals and manage acute situations effectively.
- Maintain accurate daily notes, records, and notes in compliance with HIPAA regulations while ensuring confidentiality.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate case management, home & community care services, and hospital-based interventions when necessary.
- Support clients through behavioral management strategies, social work practices, patient care activities, and research-informed approaches to addiction counseling. Experience
- Proven experience in clinical counseling or behavioral health settings with a focus on addiction treatment or mental health services.
- Strong background in psychotherapy modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), behavioral therapy, and crisis intervention techniques.
- Knowledge of substance use disorder diagnostics using DSM criteria and experience with diagnostic evaluation tools is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to manage crisis situations with professionalism while providing compassionate patient care.
- Excellent communication skills
Pay: $25.00 - $28.00 per hour
