Job Title: Seasonal Food Service Dishwasher
Location: The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens - Palm Desert, CA Department: Food & Beverage Reports To: Sous Chef, F&B Supervisors, Operations Manager Employment Type: Seasonal / Part-Time
Position Summary:
The Living Desert is seeking hardworking and dependable Seasonal Dishwashers to support our Food & Beverage team during peak visitor seasons. This behind-the-scenes role is essential to maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient kitchen environment, helping ensure a positive guest experience at our zoo and gardens.
Key Responsibilities:
- Wash and sanitize dishes, utensils, cookware, and kitchen equipment using commercial dishwashing machines and manual methods.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of dishwashing and kitchen areas.
- Assist with trash removal, recycling, and general kitchen cleaning tasks.
- Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies as needed.
- Follow all health and safety regulations, including proper handling of chemicals and equipment.
- Support kitchen staff with basic prep or stocking tasks when needed.
- Uphold The Living Desert's mission of conservation through preservation, education & awareness.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- No prior experience required; training provided.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Availability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays.
Additional Information:
- This is a seasonal position with variable hours based on operational needs.
- Chef Coat and training provided.
- Current Food Handlers Card required.
