Role Overview: This position involves providing direct patient care within obstetrical and surgical settings, supporting the Obstetrical Surgery Team in developing individualized care plans and assisting during obstetrical procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in surgical procedures by setting up equipment, retracting, cutting sutures, and verifying surgical sites.
- Provide basic patient care, including vital signs, bathing, feeding, and activity assistance for mothers and infants.
- Connect patients to clinical equipment, assist with treatments, and prepare specimens.
- Maintain accurate supply counts, document procedures, and ensure proper disposal of sharps and linens.
- Apply sterile dressings, monitor wounds, and maintain universal precautions.
- Participate in admission, discharge, billing, and on-call rotations.
- Support medication labeling under supervision and assist with emergency procedures.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Graduate of a Specialty Training Program in Nursing (required).
- Obstetrics experience required; cross-training in Women’s and Children’s units provided.
- Ability to scrub in OR, Nursery, and Postpartum settings.
- Strong teamwork, communication, and adherence to safety protocols.
