Job Summary: The Certified Nurse Practitioner is responsible for providing medical care to patients with substance use and mental health disorders.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Makes decisions regarding data gathering and appropriate management and treatment of patients being seen for the initial evaluation of a problem or the follow-up evaluations of a previously diagnosed and stabilized condition.
- Initiates appropriate evaluation and emergency management for situations such as cardiac arrest, respiratory distress, injuries, burns and hemorrhage.
- Performs clinical procedures including venipuncture, intradermal tests, application of dressings and bandages, removal of foreign bodies, cardio-pulmonary resuscitation and audiometry screening.
- Provides counseling and instruction regarding common patient problems.
- Completes initial history and physical examinations on patients and periodic medical assessments as necessary.
- Initiates orders for medications and laboratory studies for the treatment of substance detoxification and other medical problems.
- Collects specimens for and carries out commonly performed blood, urine and stool analysis and cultures.
- Identifies normal and abnormal findings and initiates request for appropriate follow-up studies.
- Completes required documentation for history and physical examinations, assessments, recommendations, and patient discharge summaries.
- Operates as part of multi-disciplinary treatment team.
- Stays current with evolving science and clinical practice and shares best practices and knowledge with others.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Master's degree from an accredited college.
- Current licensure as a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner in the State of Pennsylvania.
- Current Board Certification as a Nurse Practitioner.
- Active DEA license.
- Experience working with patients with chemical dependency disorders preferred.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification.
Coverage is needed on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, with flexible hours and dates.
