Role Overview:
A Patient Care Technician (PCT) provides essential care and delegated treatment activities to patients with renal failure, working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Charge Nurse.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Care: Deliver safe, comfortable dialysis treatments, monitor patient stats, initiate and terminate treatments, and collect blood samples.
- Technician Duties: Prepare and disinfect dialysis machines, conduct safety checks, and ensure quality control protocols are followed.
- Safety & Compliance: Follow safety measures, adhere to policies, participate in staff meetings, and complete ongoing education.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Interest in healthcare and patient care.
- Preferred experience in dialysis, phlebotomy, or CNA work.
- Comfort with mixing acids and bicarbonate and distinguishing primary colors.
- Complete approved training program and demonstrate competency.
- CPR certification within 90 days.
- Obtain Patient Care Technician certification within 18 months.
