Littleton High School is an International Baccalaureate World School where all students in grades 8-10 are enrolled in IB Middle Years Program courses. Students in grades 11-12 opt in to the IB Diploma Program. LHS also offers a full complement of AP classes, as well as a STEM Certificate, and Early High School, a unique full-day program for eighth graders on the LHS campus.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The classroom teacher performs under supervision of a principal or other designated supervisor and has major responsibility for the instruction and supervision of students. Instruction of students includes individual skill development, expansion of knowledge, and development of ability to reason. Supervision of students includes guidance, development, and safety. The classroom teacher functions in accordance with the established policies, rules, regulations and the performance standards of the District/State and the performance goals established for the teacher.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create a stimulating and supportive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and independent thinking
- Collaborate with colleagues across the Science Department to enhance curriculum development and share best practices.
- Develop and implement innovative teaching strategies that cater to a diverse range of learners.
- Assess and track student progress, providing constructive feedback to support academic growth.
- Deliver high-quality IB Biology lessons that align with the IB philosophy and promote inquiry-based learning.
- Prepare students for IB internal and external assessments, ensuring they reach their full potential.
- Support students in their Extended Essays (EE).
- Participate in school events, parent meetings, and extracurricular activities that contribute to the vibrant school community.
- Stay up to date with the latest developments in biology and science education.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Colorado Teaching License.
- Degree in Biology or related field
- Experience teaching IB DP Biology (DP and MYP experience preferred).
- A passion for science and the ability to inspire students through engaging and interactive lessons.
- Strong knowledge of IB assessment criteria and curriculum requirements.
- The ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Co-teaching experience with an MLL or LSS specialist.
- Able to teach general chemistry classes
EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
Successful applicants must be properly licensed for assignment as a Professional Educator according to the Colorado Department of Education.
STARTING SALARY RANGE: (Annual salary schedule based on 1.0 FTE)
WORK YEAR: 187 contract days (district educator calendar)

NOTE: While you may look up your estimated salary on the linked salary schedule, updates for the 2026-2027 school year are contingent upon negotiated increases that are approved by the LPS Board of Education in the summer season. Additionally, know that these salary values are based on a 1.0 FTE working 187 contract days.
