SUMMARY and ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Responsible for timely processing of daily processes to be accomplished by:
- Serves as the primary receptionist and routinely greets, responds, and resolves inquiries made by patients, visitors and customers at the Front Desk
- Coordinates the release of medical information to all requestors, including patients, physicians, other health care providers, insurance companies, attorneys, and others in accordance with hospital policy and applicable state and federal laws by pulling and preparing both paper-based and electronic health records for photocopying by HIM clerical staff, and assists with photocopying, emailing, health records for photocopying by HIM clerical staff, and assists with photocopying, emailing, uploading as well as burning CD’s for release of information and audits
- Documents requests and updates their status in the electronic tracking system as required by established procedures. Ensures that requests and authorizations are scanned into the electronic health record system
- Ability to prep, scan and index for EMR
- Receives and distributes medical record documentation internally in the HIM department from throughout the hospital (e.g., medical record documentation, department mail)
- Responds to and delivers medical records to various hospital departments for patient care activities
- Monitors and corrects patient duplications and aliases
SUMMARY and OVERALL FUNCTIONS
This position will have assigned areas of responsibility, which will rotate. The need to maintain flexibility in the change/modification of work duties to allow the department coverage to meet its needs. Deficiency Analysis

QUALIFICATIONS:
- This position prefers candidate/employee be (or become) a certified notary republic for the completion of birth certificates, affidavits of paternity, vital statistics state website data and legal notifications/documents on behalf of LRH.
- Minimum of High School diploma/equivalent with additional vocational or college training preferred.
- One year in acute care setting with experience in documentation responsibility is preferred.
- Previous experience with HIPAA, state and federal laws preferred.
- Previous experience with electronic patient record preferred.
- No responsibility for assessment, care or treatment of patients, however must exhibit competency in ability to professionally and courteously interact with patients and public of all ages.
OTHER
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Position requires prolonged periods of sitting with a light amount of physical work that may include frequent lifting, carrying and filing of medical records and documents. Filing record requires reaching, pulling, pushing, bending and stooping.
