Position: Food Preparation Coordinator

 

Reports to: Site Coordinator 

 

Supervises: None

 

Qualifications:       

  1. High School diploma or GED required.
  2. Food-Manager Certification or willingness to obtain post-employment.
  3. Health, strength and endurance to perform assigned duties.
  4. Food Service Handlers Permit required.
  5. Must meet all state licensing requirements.
  6. Satisfy all district requirements with regards to physical health and citizenship.
  7. Early childhood training through credit and/or non-credit classes, workshops, conferences, etc. preferred.
  8. Satisfy all district requirements with regard to physical health and citizenship.
  9. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Position Goal: Oversees operations of the Little Trojans Academy nutrition program. This includes serving students attractive and nutritious meals in an atmosphere of efficiency, cleanliness, and friendliness. Hygiene, meal planning and preparation, food distribution, record keeping and all kitchen operations need to adhere to Child Care Food Program guidelines and all public health regulations regarding food storage and preparation.

 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  1. Performs assigned duties in quality food production following menus and standardized recipes using quality preparation and service methods with safe food handling techniques to ensure Child Nutrition standards of the following: 
    1. Food quality, palatability and appearance.
    2. Correct safe temperatures.
    3. Proper utensil portion sizes.
    4. Proper and timely storage of deliveries and leftover food.
  2. Maintains defined standards of sanitation and safety as outlined by local state health departments.
    1. Wears gloves upon arrival and during preparation of food.
    2. Maintains clean and organized storage areas, cabinets, countertops, refrigerators and freezers.
    3. Post children's allergy requirements.
  3. Maintain required departmental records.
  4. Prepares grocery list and shops for food and supplies.
  5. Keeps and tracks inventory and purchases supplies, food, and necessary equipment.
  6. Monitors and maintains child nutrition licensing requirements.
  7. Attend workshops and conferences in accordance with licensing standards and requirements per licensed year.
  8. Assumes responsibility for checking that all equipment in the cafeteria area is in sage, working condition and notifies the appropriate authority when repairs or replacement are needed.
  9. Monitors food budget.
  10. Interacts with children.
  11. Creates healthy nutritious menus that meet the needs of students.
  12. Maintain an approval system to check, inspect and store all incoming food and supplies.
  13. Maintains good public relations with customers, co-worker, school staff and supervisors.
  14. Professional appearance in accordance with department standards.
  15. Perform all other duties as assigned.

Employment Terms:  Twelve (12) month classified hourly contract

 

FLSA Qualification:  Non-Exempt

Occasional Requirements: Reach with hands and arms overhead, above shoulder and horizontally; lift/move up to 40 pounds.

 

Visual Requirements:  Close, color, peripheral, depth perception, ability to adjust focus.

 

Hearing/Speaking Requirements:  Adequate to exchange information.
