What are the responsibilities and job description for the Jewelry Sales Associate position at Little Treasury Jewelers?
Are you driven and highly motivated to succeed? We are currently looking for someone to take a leading role in our jewelry sales department. This is an excellent and exciting opportunity for someone with years of experience in jewelry sales. We work with many luxury brands ranging from well-known vendors to smaller independent brands. We have a highly experienced on-site jeweler capable of making custom jewelry. Compensation and benefits are competitive.
Primary Duties:
- Delivers the highest quality professionalism and customer experience.
- Is a jewelry expert on the sales floor.
- Drives sales and helps expand the jewelry side of the business.
- Processes sales transactions.
- Develops social media presence of the jewelry side of the business.
- Assists in the custom jewelry process.
- Sets up and puts away stock.
- Processes repair transactions, ensures quality control, and delivers a satisfactory repair to customers.
- Maintains appearance of merchandise, as well as the store.
- Processes special orders.
- Tags stock.
- Gathers and documents customer information for entry into customer database.
- Communicates proactively with customers (follow-up calls for special occasions, repair pickups, invitations to store events, payment reminders for layaway sales).
- Performs physical inventory functions as directed.
- Performs one or more other assignments in the store as determined by supervisor.
Other Responsibilities:
- Knows and follows safety and security procedures of the store.
- May serve as key holder responsible for either opening and/or closing store if requested to do so by management.
- May perform non-sales, customer service assignments such as customer communications, quality control, or other.
- May participates in designing and implementing seasonal decorations in store.
- Performs various data entry tasks using computer systems.
- Changes batteries in watches, cleans jewelry, sets/adjusts watches.
- Performs general maintenance and cleanup tasks (trash removal, vacuuming, cleaning kitchen area) along with other staff.
- May plan or participates in special promotional activities.
- Performs any other tasks as directed by supervisor.
- May be asked to assist with the buying of jewelry.
Knowledge/Skills Required:
- Has excellent, professional-level understanding of classifications and terminology relating to gemstones and precious metals sold in store, including:
o Diamonds.
o Colored gemstones.
o Gold, platinum, silver.
- Fully understands operation of store equipment, including credit card machine, cash register, computer (retail software), jewelry cleaners, copier, fax machine, label printer, and telephones, including replenishment of supplies, if applicable.
- Knows background and key characteristics and selling points of all branded lines sold in store, including watches and gifts as well as fine jewelry.
- Can identify birthstones for each month and gift types associated with various anniversary years.
- Can explain features of watches and other electro-mechanical devices sold in the store, in addition to being able to set up watches for customers (Training on watches will be provided).
- Expert at ring sizing, battery changes, and other similar tasks.
