Duties
- Lead and facilitate a variety of camp activities including arts and crafts, sports, theater performances, and educational games that promote childhood development and teamwork.
- Manage classroom or activity spaces effectively by implementing classroom management strategies that encourage positive behavior and participation.
- Ensure the safety of all children by adhering to first aid protocols, supervising activities closely, and maintaining a secure environment at all times.
- Support children with special education needs by adapting activities and providing inclusive guidance that fosters their growth and confidence.
- Communicate regularly with parents or guardians about their child's progress, behavior, and any concerns that arise during camp sessions.
- Collaborate with fellow staff members to plan daily schedules, coordinate group activities, and maintain a lively camp atmosphere.
- Incorporate counseling principles when appropriate to nurture emotional well-being and moral development in campers.
Experience
- Prior experience working with children in educational settings such as daycare, preschool, tutoring, or summer camps is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated skills in classroom management and behavior management techniques to foster a positive learning environment.
- Knowledge of early childhood education principles and childhood development stages to tailor activities effectively.
- Certifications in first aid and CPR are required; additional training in special education or behavior management is a plus.
- Experience in coaching sports or leading recreational activities enhances your ability to engage children physically and socially.
- Background in theater arts or arts & crafts can add creative flair to camp programming.
- Previous babysitting or childcare experience helps build the foundation for nurturing young campers with patience and enthusiasm.
