Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit accurate authorizations for OMHC, SUD, & PRP.
- Prepare and submit accurate insurance claims using billing software and EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems.
- Review patient records to ensure all services are properly coded with CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) codes.
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims promptly to facilitate medical collections and resolve discrepancies.
- Verify insurance coverage and benefits to assist patients with understanding their health insurance plans.
- Maintain detailed records of billing activities, medical records, and correspondence related to claims processing.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation or coding issues that impact billing accuracy.
- Stay current with changes in healthcare claims management, medical coding standards, and health insurance regulations to ensure compliance.
Requirements
- Proven experience in medical billing or medical office administration with familiarity in healthcare claims management.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medical coding (CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10), and DRG classifications.
- Proficiency in billing software, EMR/EHR systems, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent customer service skills to communicate effectively with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers.
- Understanding of health insurance policies, benefits verification, and medical collections processes.
- Ability to interpret complex medical records and ensure accurate coding for billing purposes.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage multiple claims efficiently.
