What are the responsibilities and job description for the Toddler Teacher position at Little Lights Childcare?
We are seeking a nurturing, energetic, and responsible Toddler Teacher to join our childcare team. This position is responsible for the daily care and development of children aged 12 to 24 months in a safe and engaging environment. The ideal candidate will be passionate about early childhood development and be able to support young learners through structured activities, play, and routine care.
Responsibilities:
- Open the center promptly at 7:00 AM and prepare the classroom for the day
- Provide attentive care and supervision for children aged 12–24 months
- Create and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans and daily activities
- Change diapers and assist with toilet training as needed
- Maintain a clean and safe classroom environment
- Engage with children in play, storytelling, music, and educational games
- Monitor developmental milestones and communicate with parents about their child’s progress
- Maintain accurate daily records of meals, naps, and diaper changes
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Experience working with toddlers or in a childcare setting preferred but not required
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and pick up children for diaper changes
- Comfortable on the floor, playing and interacting with young children
- Must be dependable, punctual, and able to work independently
- Willingness to complete any required training or certifications (e.g., CPR, First Aid)
- Must pass background check and meet local childcare licensing requirements
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $12.00 - $13.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
