What are the responsibilities and job description for the Preschool Teacher Assistant position at Little Lights Childcare?
We are seeking a caring, dependable, and enthusiastic Preschool Assistant to support our 3-year-old classroom. The ideal candidate will have prior childcare experience and a passion for working with young children in a nurturing and educational environment. This is a Monday through Friday position, and the assistant must be able to open the classroom in the morning everyday.
Responsibilities:
- Open the classroom promptly and prepare for the day
- Assist the lead teacher in implementing age-appropriate activities and lessons
- Supervise and ensure the safety of children at all times
- Help with classroom setup, cleanup, and organization
- Support children with routines such as snack time, potty training, and naptime
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment
- Communicate effectively with children, staff, and parents
- Follow all center policies and health/safety guidelines
Qualifications:
- Required:
- Previous experience working with young children (preferably in a preschool or childcare setting)
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be reliable and able to consistently arrive to work on time. As well as work Monday- Friday
- Ability to work collaboratively and take direction from lead teacher and center director
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Patience, flexibility, and a love for working with young children
Preferred:
- Coursework or training in Early Childhood Education
- Familiarity with early childhood developmental milestones

Pay: $11.00 - $12.00 per hour
