The Product Design Engineer will be responsible for the research and development of transformers, contactors, and transfer switches.
Responsibilities
- Research and Development of transformers, contactors, and transfer switches. 50%
- Evaluate existing Product lines and identify design modifications for Cost Reduction and/or Performance Improvement 30%
- Participate in the introduction of New Product designs into manufacture 15%
- Interface with Customers to define applications and product requirements and identify product design opportunities and solutions 5%
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (preferred with a power background) or Mechanical Engineering
- 1-2 years of experience in electrical-mechanical design (designing transformers, contactors, relays – nice to have)
- Knowledge of third-party agency approval processes and relevant standards (UL, CSA, CCC, etc.)
- Project Management skills, working cross functionally
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication skills
- Familiarity with assembly manufacturing processes (winding coils, TIG welding – nice to have)
- Experience with CAD (Inventor or SolidWorks)
- High attention to detail
