Part Time Program Assistant - Literacy Volunteers of Greater Worcester Literacy Volunteers of Greater Worcester (LVGW) is seeking a Program Assistant to work under the direction of the Program Manager. This position will be based primarily in Worcester, MA between our administrative office and classroom.
Role Description: The Program Assistant is a professional role responsible for supporting the daily operations of LVGW’s programs, classes, and tutoring services. This role provides essential administrative, data management, standardized assessment, and customer service support to ensure smooth program delivery and compliance with Literacy Volunteers of Massachusetts (LVM) and the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE). The Program Assistant works closely with staff, volunteer tutors, and adult learners to maintain accurate program records, support assessments, assist with class logistics, and ensure responsive communication. This position plays a critical role in maintaining organized data systems, tracking program activity, and supporting reporting requirements.
Schedule: This is a year-round part-time position, 20-25 hours per week. Hours may vary depending on our ESOL class schedule, reporting periods and seasonal events.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support execution of ESOL classes and tutoring programs
- Assist with required LVM testing (BESTPlus, MAPT, TABE) - training will be provided
- Track tutor-student matches, tutoring hours and dissolves
- Assist with volunteer tutor information sessions and follow up
- Maintain student records with accuracy and confidentiality
- Respond to inquiries via phone, email, WhatsApp and walk-ins
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues
- Adhere to all LVGW policies and guidelines
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in TESOL, English, Education, or Applied Linguistics or a related field with specific coursework or training in TESOL/TESL/TEFL methodology and theory. We will also consider applicants with teaching or volunteer experience in an ESL context. Bilingual applicants are highly encouraged to apply.
