What are the responsibilities and job description for the Adult Education Volunteer position at Literacy Council of Norristown?
The Literacy Council of Norristown was founded in 1984 by a group of dedicated Montgomery County citizens to provide tutoring to students who wanted to earn their high school equivalency or improve their reading and math skills.
Since then LCN has grown to meet the increasing need for our programs and services. Today we continue to equip students with the reading, writing, math and English language skills they need to access better employment opportunities, access better education and training opportunities, and better participate in the Montgomery County community.

We are looking for volunteer to assist at The Literacy Council of Norristown in the following areas.
What makes a good tutor for adult learners?
Must be at least 18 years old
Have a solid command of English (speaking, listening, reading, and writing), and be able to be easily understood
Have the ability to communicate clearly
Be patient, flexible, and supportive
Have sensitivity to other backgrounds and cultures
