Job Overview
We are seeking a friendly and efficient Barista to join our vibrant café team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for coffee, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. This role involves preparing and serving beverages and food items, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring a welcoming atmosphere for all customers. Previous barista experience and familiarity with POS systems are highly valued. Bonus if you've worked with la marzocco commercial espresso machine.
Duties
- Prepare and serve a variety of coffee beverages, teas, and food items with attention to quality and presentation
- Operate POS systems including square POS for order processing and cash handling
- Provide exceptional customer service by greeting customers, taking orders, and addressing inquiries professionally
- Maintain cleanliness of the café area, including food prep stations, dining space, and equipment
- Handle cash transactions accurately using retail math skills; manage cash register operations efficiently
- Ensure food safety standards are adhered to during food handling and preparation
- Restock supplies as needed and assist with inventory management
- Uphold food safety regulations and proper food handling procedures at all times
- Support team members during busy periods to ensure smooth operations
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Barista or in food service is preferred; experience with coffee preparation is a plus
- Familiarity with POS systems such as Aloha POS and Micros POS
- Strong time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently during peak hours
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to create a welcoming environment
- Basic math skills for cash handling, retail math, and sales transactions
- Knowledge of food safety standards and proper food handling procedures
- Ability to work in a fast-paced café environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
