Overview: Listerhill Credit Union is a financial cooperative whose primary purpose is to help our members live financially healthy lives. In 1952, seven Reynolds Metals employees deposited $5 each with the idea of starting a credit union that was member-owned and member-focused. Helping co-workers break from predatory lenders to borrow affordably and save for their financial futures, was their motivation. We have grown from a single office at Reynolds Metals to 18 branches throughout northwest Alabama and south-central Tennessee. Today, we serve 13 counties with a full line of financial solutions. The role of the Specialist is to design curriculum for a myriad of employees while always integrating the mission, vision, and values of Listerhill Credit Union and while treating students with the utmost level of respect and professionalism. As the People Development Specialist, you will “sets the stage” for success at the organization by establishing an encouraging, engaging learning environment that is rooted in trust and integrity.
What you will do:
- Oversight of systems access, physical and electronic, based on specific job roles and permission parameters for newly hired employees
- Prepare all materials and resources needed for new hire education initiatives, including oversight of class scheduling based on participant and department availability
- Assemble and/or print all educational materials while monitoring and maintaining classroom supplies
- Demonstrate a level of autonomy regarding classroom and curriculum management which leaves little room for micro-management
- Obtain and record, within the department’s Learning Management System, all official documentation of attended and completed training courses whether instructed in classroom, on location, or remotely in accordance with credit union policies, as well as State and Federal regulations
- Conduct orientation classes during the onboarding process of new employees and those changing positions within the organization
- Work closely with the Recruiter during onboarding to ensure a professional and efficient onboarding process for all new hires
- Maintain and update personal knowledge base and curriculum resources due to evolving programs, initiatives, policies, hardware, and procedures in keeping with the credit union vision
- Ability to work within a team environment to overcome challenges and implement new departmental efficiencies and enterprises
- Demonstrate mastery of credit union core systems and software, acting in a support role for front-line and back-office staff
- Travel to branches to train on-site, engage in education-based webinars, and attend educational conferences as required
- Evaluate the progress of students via feedback from supervisors, observation, and routine testing methods
- Supervise on-the-job module of training while modeling professional behavior for internal and external member interaction
- Simulate and coach effective member transactions resulting in positive outcomes such as meaningful referrals and increasing member loyalty
- Coordinate educational opportunities with local universities and other vendors
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Three to five years of similar or related experience
- Four-year college degree (BS or BA in a relevant field) preferred
- Two-year college degree required
- A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact
- Must possess excellent communication skills
- Must possess the ability to speak to groups effectively and professionally or in a public setting
- Ability to speak in front of large audiences or instruct small groups utilizing the three learning methods of kinesthetic, auditory, and visual learning
- Time management skills are a must
- Must be willing to travel
- Above average computer skills required
- Must successfully complete appropriate LCU assessments
