We are seeking a friendly and detail-oriented Liquor Store Clerk to join our retail team. This role involves handling cash transactions, stocking shelves, and promoting sales through upselling and product demos. Duties
- Greet customers warmly and assist with their purchases
- Operate POS systems efficiently for sales transactions, returns, and exchanges
- Stock shelves with merchandise, ensuring products are properly displayed and organized
- Conduct product demos and promote featured items to increase sales
- Handle cash, credit card transactions, and maintain accurate cash handling procedures
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate stock needs to management
- Maintain store cleanliness and merchandising standards
- Enforce age restrictions by verifying IDs for alcohol purchases
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries via phone or in person with professional phone etiquette
- Assist with merchandising efforts to enhance store presentation and product placement
- Supervise or assist in supervising other team members when needed
Experience
- Previous retail sales experience, particularly in grocery or beverage stores, is preferred
- Familiarity with POS systems and cashiering procedures
- Experience with upselling techniques and product demos is advantageous
- Strong communication skills, including bilingual abilities, are desirable for serving diverse customers
- Basic math skills for handling cash transactions and retail math calculations
- Supervising experience is a plus but not required; leadership qualities are valued
- Knowledge of grocery store operations can be beneficial but is not mandatory
