Dining Operations Manager
Lions Gate Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC)
Position Summary
The Dining Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing all food service operations across the healthcare continuum at Lions Gate CCRC, including Assisted Living, Skilled Nursing, and Subacute Rehabilitation. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality meals, compliance with regulatory standards, and the efficient management of dietary staff and kitchen operations. The Dining Operations Manager plays a key leadership role in promoting resident satisfaction, safety, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Operations Management
- Oversee daily operations of all healthcare dining services across five (5) kitchens/ Dining Areas.
- Ensure all meals are prepared, portioned, and delivered in accordance with established standards, menus, and therapeutic diet requirements.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary environment in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Conduct routine kitchen inspections and implement corrective actions as needed.
Dietary Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Ensure strict adherence to physician-ordered diets, including modified textures and specialized nutrition plans.
- Collaborate with Registered Dietitians and clinical staff to support resident nutritional needs.
- Monitor food quality, presentation, temperature, and service standards.
- Maintain accurate documentation for audits and inspections.
- Monthly Meetings and audits to maintain QAPI reports
Staff Management & Scheduling
- Supervise, schedule, and manage a team of approximately 40–50 dietary aides and kitchen staff.
- Recruit, onboard, train, and evaluate staff performance.
- Foster a positive team environment focused on accountability, teamwork, and resident-centered service.
- Ensure proper staffing levels to meet operational needs.
Regulatory Compliance
- Partner with administration to ensure compliance with all state regulations, Department of Health requirements, and infection control standards.
- Stay current on regulatory changes and implement necessary operational adjustments.
- Lead readiness efforts for surveys and inspections.
Customer Service & Resident Experience
- Promote a high level of resident satisfaction through quality food and service.
- Address resident and family concerns promptly and professionally.
- Support initiatives that enhance the dining experience within healthcare settings.
Inventory & Budget Oversight
- Assist in managing food and supply inventory, ensuring proper ordering and cost control.
- Monitor waste and implement strategies to improve efficiency.
- Support adherence to departmental budgets and financial goals.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Food Service Management, Hospitality, or related field preferred.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in Hospitality
- Prior experience managing large teams (30 staff) required.
- Strong knowledge of therapeutic diets, food safety, and sanitation standards (ServSafe certification preferred or required within timeframe).
- Familiarity with state and federal healthcare regulations.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-unit environment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout multiple kitchen locations for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
- Exposure to kitchen environments, including heat, noise, and cleaning chemicals.
