Job Description
Activities Aide – Safe Haven (Dementia Care Unit)
Schedule
- Every other weekend: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
- Two evenings per week: 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Responsibilities
- Provide daily therapeutic and recreational activities designed specifically for residents with dementia
- Engage residents in group programs, one-on-one activities, sensory stimulation, music, art, movement, and other structured programs
- Assist in planning, preparing, and setting up activity materials and spaces
- Encourage resident participation while promoting dignity, safety, and comfort
- Document resident participation and report any changes in behavior or engagement
- Work collaboratively with nursing, social services, and other departments to support resident well-being
- Support weekend and evening program coverage as scheduled
- Experience working with individuals with dementia or in a memory care setting required
- Compassionate, patient, and able to redirect residents in a positive and supportive manner
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Dependable, creative, and comfortable leading small group activities
- Must be able to pass background checks and meet facility requirements
- Supportive team environment
- Training in dementia-specific programming and engagement techniques
- Opportunity to positively impact the daily lives of residents
