Activities Aide – Safe Haven (Dementia Care Unit)

Schedule

• Every other weekend: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
• Two evenings per week: 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
  
  

We are seeking a compassionate, enthusiastic Activities Aide to join our team in Safe Haven, our dedicated dementia care wing within our assisted living. The ideal candidate will have prior experience working with individuals living with dementia and a strong understanding of how to engage residents in meaningful, person-centered activities.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily therapeutic and recreational activities designed specifically for residents with dementia
• Engage residents in group programs, one-on-one activities, sensory stimulation, music, art, movement, and other structured programs
• Assist in planning, preparing, and setting up activity materials and spaces
• Encourage resident participation while promoting dignity, safety, and comfort
• Document resident participation and report any changes in behavior or engagement
• Work collaboratively with nursing, social services, and other departments to support resident well-being
• Support weekend and evening program coverage as scheduled
  
  

Qualifications

• Experience working with individuals with dementia or in a memory care setting required
• Compassionate, patient, and able to redirect residents in a positive and supportive manner
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Dependable, creative, and comfortable leading small group activities
• Must be able to pass background checks and meet facility requirements
