School Nurse - RN/LPN

REQUIREMENTS:

1. Registered Nurse degree or LPN Certificate
2. Prior experience preferred

JOB GOALS:

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Implement the policies of the Board of Education.
2. Communicate appropriately with supervisors, other employees, students, and visitors.
3. Maintain a friendly and helpful environment.
4. Maintain an acceptable standard of personal appearance.
5. Maintain confidentiality.
6. Provide immediate care to sick and injured students and staff or to make appropriate referrals for such care.
7. Attend meetings and participate in conferences necessary for currency of services delivered.
8. Assure overall supervision of health room.
9. Dispense student medications as per doctor's orders.
10. Perform regular checks for vision, height, weight, head lice, etc.
11. Present health lessons to grades kindergarten through six.
12. Support special services with periodic testing of vision and hearing.
13. Compile report for immunizations to the Department of Health and State Board of Education.
14. Check and record student health/immunization records.
15. Coordinate the Wellness Program guidelines with the Food Service Director and building administrators.
16. Maintain and revise the district Crisis Management Plan.
17. Work with parents and students regarding communicable diseases and and immunizations.
18. Cooperate with outside health agencies in meeting state guidelines for school health care.
19. Assume responsibility for tasks other than those listed which may be assigned by a supervisor.
