About Senior Custodian:
Two positions available. The Senior Custodian maintains the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of County buildings while overseeing assigned custodial personnel to ensure completion of daily tasks. This position supports building readiness for staff and the public, responds to facilities needs, and may serve as the shift lead in the absence of a supervisor.
- Oversees the work of custodial staff during assigned shifts; provides direction, assists with training, and task inspection.
- Cleans and sanitizes restrooms, floors, carpets, windows, furniture, and surfaces according to established procedures.
- Empties trash and recycling receptacles and replenishes paper and soap supplies as needed.
- Maintains and operates custodial equipment including vacuums, buffers, and floor scrubbers; performs basic maintenance and reports malfunctions.
- Maintains custodial supply inventory; alerts supervisors when additional materials or equipment are required.
- Prepares rooms for meetings, events, or internal functions including setup and teardown of tables, chairs, and equipment.
- Performs light groundskeeping including snow removal, salting, and minor outdoor maintenance around building entrances and sidewalks.
- Opens and secures building entrances; ensures safe access and monitors for potential safety hazards.
- Raises and lowers flags.
- Responds to building service requests and collaborates with other facilities staff or supervisors to resolve cleaning or maintenance concerns.
- Serves as shift lead in absence of a custodial supervisor and performs other related duties as assigned.
- No formal education required.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in the custodial field required.
