Provides direct care and support to individuals with cognitive and physical disabilities, focusing on activities of daily living, community integration, personal care, and behavioral support. Ensures the safety, health, and emotional well-being of consumers through individualized programming, relationship-building, and collaboration with interdisciplinary team members, while documenting all services in accordance with Medicaid and agency requirements.Monday - Friday

About Direct Support Staff:
This is a temporary position for 35 hours per week. Provides direct care and support to individuals with cognitive and physical disabilities, focusing on activities of daily living, community integration, personal care, and behavioral support. Ensures the safety, health, and emotional well-being of consumers through individualized programming, relationship-building, and collaboration with interdisciplinary team members, while documenting all services in accordance with Medicaid and agency requirements.
- Provides personal care including toileting, bathing, dressing, hygiene assistance, and feeding support.
- Implements individual program plans and support goals, activities of daily living, and behavior intervention strategies.
- Documents services provided including Medicaid-billable supports, attendance, incidents, and progress on goals.
- Teaches and supports coping skills, emotional regulation, and behavioral de-escalation in line with behavior plans.
- Plans and supports community integration activities, providing transportation and supervision in public settings.
- Maintains a clean, organized, and safe environment including laundry, dishes, and meal service.
- Operates and assists with the use of adaptive equipment including lifts, wheelchairs, and communication devices.
- Collaborates with program managers, nurses, and team members to ensure holistic and coordinated consumer care.
- High school diploma and at least 20 hours of coursework beyond the high school level in the areas of sociology, psychology, social work, human services, education, or rehabilitation required.
- One (1) to three (3) years of experience working with persons with disabilities, or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds and demonstrate lifting, pushing, and pulling capabilities as part of the pre-employment process.
